Accredited Mental Health Social Workers are are mental health  specialists  who have extensive postgraduate training and experience in the field of mental health. They work with people  in the community across the  full continuum of mental health  issues, including prevention, early  intervention and treatment.  


They may provide services privately under Medicare to people at risk of developing mental health conditions or with diagnosable mental health conditions. They may also work independently or as part of a group, or work for PHNs, Workcover, Victim Support Services and other government programs in most States and Territories.

Accredited Mental Health Social Workers are regulated by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

AMHSWs work with people  with mild to complex mental  health issues. They support  patients through counselling and  psychotherapy, using a range  of evidence-based strategies,  including focussed psychological  strategies, depending on the needs  of the patient.  AMHSWs are equipped to help  individuals identify and address  social and other environmental  issues to improve their quality of life.  This may involve individual, family  and/or group counselling, in person  or via telehealth 


Yes. Most research shows that there are no significant differences between Telehealth counselling and face-to-face counselling and the outcomes are comparable (Swint, Fischer,Zhang et.al, 2024; Krzyżaniak,  Greenwood,  Scott et. al., 2021)


The frequency of counselling depends on your individual needs and goals. Some clients may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may attend fortnightly or monthly.


You will need a tablet, laptop, desktop computer or phone with a camera and stable internet connection You will also need a space that is private and quiet.  Headphones may also be useful.


An appointment link to access your video consultation will be included in your appointment booking confirmation email and SMS. This link will be unique to you.


Accredited Mental Health Social Workers are bound by a code of ethics, which includes maintaining confidentiality about what you discuss with them. However, there may be exceptional circumstances where an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker may need to discuss your information with others, such as when there is concern about your safety. You can talk to your Accredited Mental Health Social Worker about the situations in which your information might be shared. 


Payments can be made by debit or credit card at the time of booking your session. Cancellations made within 48 hours of an appointment will receive a full refund.

  • Funding schemes, such as  workers’ compensation, transport  accident, victim support, NDIS and  veteran support services
